Why Podcasting?

I know the world and its mother seems to be making podcasts at this time. So why me?

Well did you know I actaully studied radio in college?

Before I became a PT. I did Communication Studies in DCU. This was basically a degree in media studies. In second year we specialised, and I picked audio production.

I always loved radio but at that time I wasn’t aware of podcasts. Back then (11yrs ago eek!) Podcasts weren’t really a thing. Other than radio stations posting recordings of their shows, I don’t think there was much else. (in Ireland anyway)

After I left college, I had beome disillusioned with the whole process, so the idea never crossed my mind. But I still loved lsitening to the radio.

Then last year during the first lockdown. I began toying with the idea of launching my own while I was doing a busniness course. It was at that time that Yvonne suggested we start one and I decided to go for it!

When we started ‘Why not?’. I remembered how much I loved recording and editing! This was a skill that I thought that I would never use again, but suddenly my passion for it had re-ignited.

That was why, when Yvonne wanted to take a break, I decided I would keep going with the podcast! The solo episodes are hard, but it’s a challenge that I enjoy and the interiviews are always interesting and informative!

Why am I saying this? Well what I want to say is, If there is something you enjoy but are afraid to take back up... My advice is to go for it! There is no reason you shouldn’t.

As the name of my podcast says. Why not?
